A fire in Maresme forces the confinement of the town of Òrrius
The fire originated in an industry and is spreading through forest mass
BarcelonaCivil Protection has sent an alert to mobile phones to request the confinement of the population of the municipality of Òrrius, in the Maresme region, due to an industrial fire that is spreading through forest mass. About 800 people live in this town. In the alert, the Generalitat asks citizens not to go out on the street and to close doors and windows. Civil Protection points out that due to the distribution of antennas, it is possible that some residents of Argentona have received the ES-ALERT for confinement, and clarify that in this town there is no need to confine oneself.
About twenty fire crews are working on a fire that originated in the courtyard of a factory. Fifteen ground crews and five aerial units are working on both flanks of the forest fire, but they are concentrating their efforts especially on the right flank, so that the fire does not jump a ravine. This is the Proquinat factory, on Lleida street, which is dedicated to the manufacture of waxes and paraffins. According to the firefighters, the factory is burning completely and they are applying a defensive strategy because there is a danger that the roof will collapse. For this reason, they are working from outside the premises.
At the same time, the Firefighters report that all workers have left the company and no one is affected. In turn, the Medical Emergency System (SEM) reports that they have attended to five people and all have been discharged on site.
