BarcelonaSant Genís dels Agudells was celebrating a community day this Saturday. The residents of this neighborhood near the Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona enjoyed a market organized by the merchants' association, with food trucks and activities. At night, to conclude the evening, they hired some DJs who were supposed to play until 11 p.m., as explained by the Residents' Association. Around 10:30 p.m., however, in Plaça de Meguidó, right where the concerts were with numerous attendees, a fight broke out that ended with a fatality.

The victim's name was Alex and he was 53 years old, according to neighborhood and police sources. He was a man who, although he did not live in the neighborhood, was well-known in the area because he was linked to the football club where his sons played. It all started with a fight in which, apparently, Alex was not involved. One of the men who was involved, also known in the neighborhood, received a blow and, very upset, went home and shortly after returned with a baseball bat and a bladed weapon with the intention of revenge. At this point, according to some witnesses, Alex would have tried to separate this man from the others involved in the fight and would have taken the worst part, as he received several stab wounds. Right now, this is also the version that the Mossos are working with, according to sources consulted by ARA.

Several witnesses

So far, the Catalan police have not arrested anyone. They are looking for the man who returned with a bladed weapon as the alleged perpetrator of the crime and have already identified him. At the time of the events, there were many people in the square, and the Mossos have been able to collect various testimonies. Among the people who witnessed the fight was also, according to sources consulted by ARA, the victim's teenage daughter. The son, who was younger, was running around the area, but would not have witnessed the events. The neighbors held a small tribute to Alex this Sunday. The Mossos' investigation remains open.
