BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a second person presumably related to the fatal shooting of a minor in Parc de la Pegaso in Barcelona. During her appearance, Parlon assured that the Interior Ministry is working to strengthen the investigation units of the Mossos d'Esquadra "to provide a better response to the criminal industry behind drugs". In fact, the minister assured that "of the seven shootings with fatal victims that have occurred this year, all of them are related to the criminal drug industry".

One group against another

According to sources consulted by ARA after the crime, that night, after 10:45 p.m., several witnesses heard between two and three shots and then saw some boys fleeing. A group of young people, some with their faces covered, approached another group and opened fire on them, among whom was the fifteen-year-old victim.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found an adolescent with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Paramedics tried to revive him, but the maneuvers were unsuccessful and the boy eventually died.

From the outset, the Mossos d'Esquadra stated that the murder had not been "a random act." This was explained the day after the crime by the Director General of the Police, Josep Lluís Trapero, and theintendent of the prefecture, Toni Rodríguez. "It was not an interaction that got out of hand, a casual event, or an incident. We are working with the hypothesis that it was a direct action with a firearm," specifiedintendent Rodríguez. Even at that time, sources consulted by ARA added that everything indicated that the victim was the target of the attack and there was no prior discussion. Next to him was his brother, only eight years old.

For their part, the Minister of the Interior of the Generalitat, Núria Parlon, indicated at the time that the first indications from the murder investigation pointed to a confrontation between gangs from the area, while Trapero and Rodríguez avoided directly linking the event to gangs, although they did not rule it out.
