One in four Catalans is already fully vaccinated
Catalonia has administered over 5m doses
BarcelonaCatalonia has already administered 5.057.762 doses of vaccines against covid-19, according to the latest data from the Health Dpt. Of those who have already received the vaccine, 1.962.312 have already completed the schedule. This means that at this point one in four Catalans is already fully vaccinated. In recent weeks, the Health Dpt has accelerated the pace of vaccinations, finding slots for 45 to 49-year-olds and, since Thursday, also people aged between 40 and 44.
By now four out of ten citizens have received at least the first jab. According to data from the Health Dpt, so far 3,223,763 first doses have been administered and 1,833,999 second doses. By age groups, almost 93% of people over eighty and 92% of citizens aged 70 to 79 years have received at least one dose of the vaccine. In the lower age brackets, the percentage of people who have received the first shot drops a little and stands at 83.8% in the 66-69 age bracket and 80% in the 60-65 age bracket. In the last age bracket which began to be called from last week - people from 45 to 49 years - 27.9% have received the first dose.
If vaccination status is analysed by groups, 97.8% of essential professionals and vulnerable people who were first called for vaccination against covid have received at least one dose. This is 89.6% of highly dependent people, 87.4% of care home staff, 90.1% of primary care and hospital staff, 82% of health and social-health workers and 75.5% of essential workers.
Nine out of ten people over seventy are fully vaccinated
The first age groups and essential professionals who were first called up to be vaccinated include the most fully vaccinated people. Thus, 91.9% of people over 80 years of age and 89.9% of those between 70 and 79 years of age have already received the two doses of the vaccine. Also, 54.1% of essential workers and 87.3% of people who depend on an institution have been fully vaccinated. In terms of healthcare staff, 83% of nursing care home staff have received both jabs, and 86.2% of primary care and hospital staff have also received the vaccine.
