The Health Department has already administered 986,514 first doses of the vaccine against covid-19, according to the latest data released on Friday. In the last 24 hours 55,149 people have been vaccinated with the first dose and 7,843 with the second, which means that there are a total of 62,992 doses administered (17,704 less than yesterday). 442.487 people have already received the second dose of the vaccine, so 5.8% of the population already has the full guideline, 6.9% if we take into account only people over 16 years old.

By groups, 65% of those who are highly dependent are immunised; 26.7% of those over 80 years of age; 76.3% of primary care and hospital staff; 75.7% of nursing home staff, and 91.7% of those who are institutionalised. In the case of essential workers, the percentage is only 1.9%, and in the 60-65 age group it is 0.3%.

More AstraZeneca doses arrive and the Health Department opens more appointments

The Spanish government has started this Friday morning the distribution of 1,056,500 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine among the different communities. These vaccines arrived yesterday afternoon and the distribution has begun in Aragon. With this forecast, the Department of Health has opened new appointments to schedule vaccinations with the 160,000 doses that correspond to this batch. Thus, the Catalan population between 60 and 65 years old is again receiving messages to schedule an appointment for vaccination. The vaccination will begin this weekend.

The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, announced on Thursday that on Monday a new batch of vaccines from Pfizer will arrive, with a total of 1,200,000 doses. This is in addition to the more than one million doses that arrived from Pfizer and Moderna last Monday, bringing the total to two million vaccines in a week, according to the minister.

Indicators worsen

However, the main indicators of the evolution of the pandemic continue to worsen. The Health Department has notified this Friday 1.606 new contagions in Catalonia and 17 deaths more, that elevate the total of deaths to 21.328. The EPG rises 9 points and stands at 284, and the speed of transmission is also up one hundredth (1.21). Even so, there are 27 fewer hospital admissions (1,427), including 417 in the ICU (three more than yesterday).
