A body appears floating in the Baells reservoir
The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the finding and do not rule out any hypothesis
BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the discovery of a body floating in the La Baells reservoir, in the Berguedà region. This Wednesday morning, a witness thought they saw a wrapped body floating in the water and called the emergency number 112. The Catalan police went to the reservoir and confirmed it was a lifeless body, as reported by Regió 7 and confirmed by ARA.
At present, the body has not yet been identified. In parallel, the Mossos d'Esquadra are keeping all hypotheses open. In other words, the state of the body has not directly led the police to believe it could be a homicide. Therefore, it is also being investigated whether it could be an accident or a suicide. However, the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) has taken charge of the investigations, indicating that the criminal hypothesis has not been ruled out and it is being investigated whether it could be a crime.
Awaiting autopsy
To determine the nature of the event, the autopsy of the body, which will be performed in the coming hours, will be key. This analysis could clarify the cause of death and whether it would be an accidental or criminal passing. Meanwhile, the competent court has ordered the proceedings to be kept secret.
The area of the Baells reservoir where the corpse was located is situated in the municipality of Vilada. According to municipal sources, no one has been reported missing in this town, nor has a missing person report been filed in recent hours. For now, all scenarios are open.
