BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a man around 60 years old this Sunday at noon for killing another in the Bon Pastor neighborhood of Barcelona. The victim, a young boy, died from a stab wound to the chest. The events took place on the street in broad daylight, but they are not framed within a fight, but rather a robbery in which the victim was, presumably, the perpetrator of the stabbing.

According to sources consulted by ARA, the police reconstruction of events suggests that the detainee, a man who was in a wheelchair and had respiratory problems — he carried an oxygen tank — noticed the suspicious attitude of a young man approaching him. According to his version, the boy snatched a chain he was wearing around his neck with a strong pull. At that moment, the victim of the robbery supposedly defended himself by drawing a bladed weapon and stabbing the young man in the chest, who fell to the ground.

Units of the Mossos d'Esquadra and emergency medical services (SEM) personnel were dispatched to the scene, who could do nothing to save the young man's life. Immediately afterwards, the officers arrested the victim of the robbery as the alleged perpetrator of the violent death of the thief.

Although the arrested man claims he acted in self-defense, the Mossos are investigating it as a homicide. For now, they give credence to the detainee's version, who has been placed in preventive detention after appearing in court. The deceased young man has several prior records for similar robberies.
