Arrested for raping ponies, donkeys and sheep on farms in Roda de Berà
The attacks occurred continuously since 2022 and caused the death of a sheep.
BarcelonaThe local police of Roda de Berà, in Tarragonès, have arrested a 47-year-old man for continuously sexually assaulting five animals on two farms in the municipality and even causing the death of a sheep. The arrest took place this Wednesday for a crime of animal abuse, although the investigation dates back to the end of 2022. It was then that the owner of one of the two farms alerted that two of her animals had serious injuries to their genitals.
Over time, practically identical incidents were recorded on another farm in the municipality, which also had a horse riding stable. The modus operandi The incident was very similar, both in the way the animals were tied by their legs and in the injuries they suffered afterwards, which led the local police to investigate the two incidents together. The investigation concluded that the man had allegedly sexually assaulted five different animals, which were sheep, donkeys and ponies. The fact that the assaults were continuous ended up causing the death of a sheep due to the injuries suffered. The man tried to find the same five animals and always acted at night.

Faced with the repetition of these incidents, the owners of both farms decided to install cameras in the spaces where the animals were kept, and this measure worked: the local police obtained the first images of the perpetrator, who was the same on both farms. Finally, with the collaboration of the owners and the public, the police managed to identify the man, aged 47. He lived in a shack in a rural area, within the municipality
On Wednesday afternoon, an off-duty police officer recognised the alleged perpetrator and alerted the patrol, which began to follow him. The man was walking along the road with a cart full of scrap metal and, according to sources familiar with the matter, was approaching one of the two farms in question. Therefore, the police decided to arrest him in case he might strike again. The detainee was taken to the Mossos d'Esquadra police station in Torredembarra for further investigation and his subsequent presentation to the judicial authority.
