BarcelonaThe fire caused by the friction collision of two trucks this Monday afternoon on the AP-7, near Santa Margarida i els Monjos, continues to generate significant traffic disruptions this Tuesday morning. Despite the reopening of one lane in the northbound direction, cleaning and road repair work is causing traffic jams of up to seven kilometers, according to the Servei Català de Trànsit. The two trucks have already been removed, and work is now underway to remove the cargo and repair the road surface, while traffic remains partially restricted.

The Generalitat Firefighters deployed about fifteen crews to extinguish the fire, which also affected vegetation on the shoulder, while Civil Protection activated the special emergency plan for accidents in the transport of dangerous goods on alert. The emergency number 112 received about sixty calls. Despite the spectacular nature of the incident, the drivers were unharmed and no injuries were reported. As a precaution, the staff of the company Gedia, located next to the accident site, was also evacuated.

During the night, traffic was restored in the southbound direction, while the northbound direction remained closed until early this Tuesday, when one lane was reopened. Even so, the tasks of removing the burnt-out vehicles and repairing the damage to the road surface are still causing complications on the route.
