It has not taken the Madrid PP 24 hours to rectify and admit that the alleged post-abortion syndrome It lacks scientific consistency. The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, a member of the Popular Party (PP), stated this Thursday that women will not be "forced" to receive "any type of information" about "postural trauma" because, indeed, "it is not a recognized scientific category," as feminist organizations and medical societies have warned.

The day before, the Madrid PP voted in favor of an initiative by the Vox municipal group that seeks to force doctors and social services to inform women about this false trauma. Although yesterday, Génova also endorsed the decision of the Madrid PP, Almeida has now distanced himself from the Vox extremists, and in statements to journalists during an event at the Madrid Medical Association, he clarified that the information offered to women who decide to have an abortion will not be mandatory but voluntary. The information will be "true," Almeida insisted, who has amended his own decision and withdrawn from his previous support for a proposal based on rumors and fundamentalist positions.

"Supporting the provision of information to women is not supporting the argument used by Vox, and I think we should know how to distinguish between the two," Almeida indicated, who asserted that "no one doubts that women are mature enough to receive the information they consider appropriate," he noted. "It's important not to confuse the two."

"We can all agree that surgical intervention can have effects and consequences; therefore, the only thing we are proposing is that, given this scenario, Madrid City Council can provide this information to women who freely and voluntarily accept it," Almeida stressed, according to reports.
