A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for killing a man with a knife: he was hiding in Türkiye.

As reported by Crónica Global and confirmed by ARA, the case dates back to last summer, on a night bus passing through Castelldefels. It was four in the morning when two passengers on the bus, who apparently did not know each other, began arguing over a minor matter, according to police sources. The bus's security cameras recorded them getting into a physical altercation inside the vehicle. This argument moved outside the bus, where the now-detained man allegedly pulled out a knife.

During the fight, the minor allegedly stabbed the victim in the leg. The man was taken to a hospital, but died a few hours later. From the outset, the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) have treated it as a case of manslaughter, but not murder. They believe that, based on the type of stab wound, the perpetrator did not intend to kill the victim. However, the assailant fled the scene.

Hide and seek and negotiate

As the hours passed, Catalan police investigators began to suspect that the minor had managed to flee the country. In fact, once they had fully identified him, they were able to locate him in Turkey, hiding in a family home. The next step was to issue a European arrest warrant. But ultimately, it wasn't necessary to implement it.

The same police sources report that negotiations began with the minor's legal representatives. These talks proved fruitful, as he ultimately surrendered himself. He told the police when he would return and which airport he would be using. On Monday, the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) were already waiting for him in the El Prat airport's arrivals area and arrested him. This solves a homicide from July 2025.

The abducted minor returns to El Prat

This Tuesday, El Prat Airport is also the scene of the resolution of another case: the girl from the same town whom her father took to Italy is scheduled to land there. She is returning accompanied by her mother. At the end of last year, the Carabinieri found the girl in Vitulazio, Italy, after her father failed to return her to her mother in time. The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) discovered that the man had made financial transactions and sold assets and considered it highly likely that he intended to flee with his daughter. Therefore, they took steps to determine the whereabouts of the father, an Argentinian national, and because he had family in both Italy and Argentina, they believed he could be in one of those two countries. They activated the European police cooperation protocol SIRENE, which led the Carabinieri to locate the girl on December 23. Since then, the minor has been in the custody of the Italian authorities.
