A 14-year-old girl dies after being hit by a bus in Barcelona

BarcelonaA 14-year-old girl died Tuesday night after being hit by a bus in Barcelona. Specifically, the accident occurred at number 107 Gran Via de Carlos III, in the Les Corts district of Barcelona, as the victim was crossing the street with her mother. Police sources explain that they are investigating whether the mother and daughter were crossing in a designated area. According to the Barcelona City Council, the incident happened around 9:30 p.m., when a bus on the X43 express line, operated by the Monbus company, fatally struck the young woman. Units from the Central Traffic Accident Investigation Unit (UCAT) of the Barcelona Municipal Police were dispatched to the scene to determine the cause of the accident. Barcelona firefighters and ambulances from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) also responded. This is the ninth traffic fatality in the city this year. The Barcelona City Council has expressed its condolences to the family and friends of the victim and reaffirmed its commitment to continue working to reduce traffic fatalities.
