The misfortune of this week in Spain bears the name of Jesus and took place in Tenerife. Jesús (de Miguel) is the name of the footballer from the Canary Island team who was running on the counterattack in search of the 3-2 in the final play of a League match against Andorra. And Jesus (Owono) is the goalkeeper who jumped desperately to prevent his side from failing to earn a point on opposing ground, in a 'do-or-die' moment quite common in a context of high-level football competition (Second Division, in this case).

The football world is in mourning following the death of Tenerife player Jesús de Miguel. The footballer suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest following a tackle by Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono and was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away early this morning. Expressions of condolence have been quick to arrive, and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has suspended the Cup matches scheduled for this Tuesday as a sign of respect. However, beyond the dismay, many fans are wondering to what extent this action could have criminal consequences for the Andorra goalkeeper. Could he end up being tried for reckless homicide?
