A 26-year-old worker died this Wednesday in an accident at the Cabanasses potash mine, in Súria (Bages). The events took place at eleven in the morning, when the victim was in one of the continuous miners where everything points to a wall collapse, as explained in a statement by the company ICL Iberia. The company "immediately" activated the emergency protocol and the mine, where there were about 240 people, was evacuated.

A worker who was carrying out maintenance on the train tracks near Sant Mori (Alt Empordà) died early this Saturday morning. According to police sources, he suffered an electric shock while maintaining the railway line, halfway between the Sant Miquel de Fluvià and Camallera stations. At the latter, Adif has been carrying out works for some time. The victim is a 66-year-old man.

A judge in Terrassa has sentenced a businessman to two and a half years in prison for the death of an employee, a truck driver, whose tire burst while he was driving on the highway, causing him to lose control and crash into a sign, resulting in his death. According to the sentence, the cause of the accident was the poor condition of the vehicle's tires.

Workplace accidents have soared in the first seven months of the year, with 52 fatalities in Catalonia, 44.4% more than in the same period last year, when there were 36.
