A performative theatre that develops musicovisual artefacts playing with tempos and metrics, with sound and silence in fully contemporary scores and scenic spaces of strong plasticity. In their creative territory there is a deliberate absence of literature, although they have made shows about Verdaguer, Rodoreda and Brossa with little human presence. This changes in Mil tres, say cheese, a kind of stimulating contemporary opera based on the character of Don Juan and the music of Mozart.

According to the company Cabosanroque, the connection is direct and very evident: through the opera Don Giovanni. The Puerto Rican artist sings in Tití me preguntó about the women he has slept with, just as the protagonist of Mozart's opera reviews his conquests at one point in the show. "The myth of Don Juan has been revisited many, many times. Each era is responsible for reflecting on it, judging it, and deciding whether to redeem or condemn it," explains Laia Torrents, the soul of Cabosanroque along with Roger Aixut. With this mission, the company projects its gaze on Mozart's opera, linking it to the present in the show Mil tres, say cheese, which can be seen from April 8 to 19 at the Teatre Lliure de Gràcia and is co-produced by the same theater with Temporada Alta.

I read Broken mirrorI loved it, but I didn't understand a thing. And at school they told me about the author's life, which doesn't help with understanding. Broken mirror"Laments essayist, literary critic, and professor Neus Penalba (Tarragona, 1982). For years, the work of one of the great authors of Catalan literature has been read in a partial and biased way. Mercè Rodoreda's literary magnitude has been conditioned by factors external to her work, by the endearing photograph of a grandmother obsessed with plants, by the need to canonize her as a literary icon from the 1980s onward. "There is a double substitution: one is the idea that Rodoreda is Colometa, perhaps thinking that our grandmothers didn't have enough imagination to create characters, and the other is that she is supplanted." The Diamond Squarewhich softens the blow and recreates characters that are far less strange. If those adults who think they've read Rodoreda reread The Diamond Square "Now, tell me if it's corny!" Penalba challenges.

Within the field of classical music, one of the unmissable events is the Torroella de Montgrí Festival, at the foot of the massif that separates the Empordà, which this year celebrates its 45th edition. Focusing mainly on early and baroque music, but also featuring contemporary offerings and repertoires from all styles and periods, from the 14th century to the present day, the Bajo Empordà festival offers a very interesting, unique, and diverse program of up to 32 concerts, which runs from August 3 to 22. To help you choose and sort through all the offerings at the Torroella festival, prominent figures from our country's cultural world recommend to the ARA the most attractive and essential concerts, designed for all tastes and interests.
