The new U2 album, Carnaval de Luz (Island Records), will reach stores on November 13th and will be the band's first with new material in nine years. The album, which was announced this Thursday, will consist of 12 songs that explore themes such as spirituality, friendship, freedom, and resilience. Among the collaborations on the album will be a duet between Bono and Dolly Parton, who passed away at the end of August. The track, titled Torn, which revolves around the breaking of family ties, has turned out to be the legendary singer's last recorded vocal performance.

"The songs on this EP couldn't wait; they were eager to get out into the world. They are songs of rebellion, dismay, and lament," says Irish singer Bono about the EP. Days of ashwhich U2 released this Wednesday. "The celebratory songs will come later; we're working on them now. Despite the atrocity we see normalized every day on our screens, nothing is normal in these crazy times, and we must stand up to them so we can regain faith in the future, and in each other," adds Bono, who announces a new U2 album for later this year.

It is likely that Paul David Hewson – that is, Bond, he frontman of U2 – is one of the most annoying figures in pop culture, although no one can deny his talent for narrating himself, something only the biggest stars can achieve.
