El Último de la Fila has returned to make Montjuïc Olympic Stadium its own this Thursday, repeating last Sunday's feat in a double date that is already music history in our home. The last time the group set foot on the Olympic Ring turf was on October 6, 1990, on a bill shared with Tina Turner and Sopa de Cabra. Thirty-six years later, the grain of black and white photographs has given way to an explosion of color and living nostalgia: Manolo García and Quimi Portet before a legion of followers who not only remember the songs, but inhabit them. The atmosphere, as Xavier Cervantes already pointed out in the chronicle of the first concert, has been extraordinary. On stage, the chemistry between the Barcelona duo has spread to a surrendered stadium, Xavier Cervantes in the chronicle of the first concert, has been extraordinary. This grand farewell has not only served to say goodbye, but to certify that El Último de la Fila's repertoire has a relevance independent of the passage of time and trends.

Some of the responses were: "For his lyrics," "He has a cool, naughty side," "He's aged really well," and "He already had great songs with El Último de la Fila." I added that she understands Catalonia very well. "Very well argued, I'll listen to it," she concluded.

The prologue is by Quim Monzó and the epilogue is by Manolo García, with whom—among many other things—Portet spent a decade of madness with El Último de la Fila. Read without musical accompaniment, Quimi Portet's lyrics are even more fun, delicate, poetic, or metaphysical. That's why there won't be any questions in today's interview. Just verses from his songs that I've selected to keep the conversation going with Quimi Portet.
