The rider from Cervera has beaten Pedro Acosta – just as he did on Saturday in the sprint race – at the Hungarian Grand Prix and achieves his 100th victory in motorcycle racing. Márquez took advantage of a five-bike crash in the first corner to close the gap on the leading riders. The Catalan adds another 25 points to his overall standings and climbs to fifth position.

On Thursday, June 11th, the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico begins, the first to be contested by 48 national teams (instead of the current 32). Three countries and sixteen cities will host the 104 matches, culminating on Sunday, July 19th (9:00 PM) with the grand final to be played at the MetLife Stadium located in New Jersey (near New York City). This event will mark a generational shift in the world of football, as it will be the last World Cup for Leo Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, among others, and the emergence of new global stars like Lamine Yamal, who will play in his first World Cup.

For the sixth consecutive year, the blaugranes will compete in the Champions League final. It will not be just any match. Pere Romeu's team will face Jonatan Giráldez's Olympique Lyonnais, the former coach of the Catalan team. The two best teams in Europe will meet at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. The final has been preceded by the difficulties fans –and the press– have had in reaching Norway, but UEFA has already posted the sold-out ticket sign. Thousands of culers will fill the streets of Oslo and will try to win the battle in the stands, where 28,000 people are expected. Among them, the family of Caroline Graham Hansen, who will be playing at home.

They are three examples of Spanish players who have already lifted the Champions League three times and on May 23rd they dream of repeating it for the fourth time. It seems an obligation to fight every season to be in the final of the top European competition and, even, to have to win it, but a few years ago only chosen footballers could lift the title of champions. One of these – the first Spanish woman to achieve it – was Vero Boquete (Santiago de Compostel·la, 1987), who won the Champions League with Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2014-15 season. “When I left Spain [in 2010], the league was not professional and there were very few foreigners. I was one of the first players to go abroad and earn my respect,” she explains to ARA.

Thus began Florentino Pérez's first press conference in 13 years. The all-powerful white president urgently summoned the media this Tuesday afternoon, but did not announce the name of the new first-team coach after two years without titles. Nor did he say he was resigning due to his advanced age. Quite the contrary: more belligerent than ever against "the bad guys," he announced elections "for the coming weeks" and challenged those Madridistas who want to dispute his position. "'Where is Florentino?' they ask. They say I don't exist, that I'm sick, that I have terminal cancer...
