Urtasun will be the number two of the Broad Front candidacy in Barcelona in the elections of November 29th

BarcelonaThe Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, will be number two on the Front Ampli candidacy list for Barcelona on the upcoming November 29th, as reported by the Comuns in a statement issued this Saturday morning. The party ratified him as a candidate after receiving 94.1% of the votes in an extraordinary National Council held this Friday evening in Barcelona.

The minister will go just behind the former mayor Ada Colau, who will be the Front Ampli candidate for the presidency of the Spanish government. The name of the candidacy for Congress will be Comuns- Front Ampli. Both Urtasun and Colau are scheduled to speak this Saturday at the presentation event of the candidacy in Madrid.

In a video spread on social media, Urtasun has claimed his three years as Minister of Culture and has assured that November 29th will be a "transcendental battle". "We cannot allow Catalonia to fall into the sphere of influence of Donald Trump with a government of PP and Vox. It is not the time to take any step back and that is why I have decided to take the step in this battle," he said.

Endorsement of the coalition

The National Council of the purple party this Friday also approved with 94.8% support the electoral coalition agreement within the Front Ampli. In the statement, the formation argues that Colau's designation as number 1 of the candidacy for Barcelona demonstrates the "unequivocal commitment" of this space to the recognition of the plurinationality of the State.
