The victims of the DANA will not attend the Nou d'Octubre due to the presence of Carlos Mazón.

They claim that the PP leader "has not been and is not up to the task of meeting the needs of the people."

ValenciaThe three major associations of families of victims and those affected by the DANA (National Hurricane) have declined the invitation received from the Generalitat (Catalan Government) "on behalf of Carlos Mazón" to attend the institutional events for the Nou d'Octubre (October 1st), the Valencian National Day (Diada del País Valencià), which will be celebrated this Thursday. During the ceremony, awards will be presented to those affected by the cold snap and also to those who participated in the cleanup and reconstruction efforts.

The organizations emphasized that the leader of the Popular Party "has not been, nor is he still today, up to what the Valencian people needed on October 29th, nor what they continue to need a year later." Therefore, they explained that their "deep respect" for the Valencian institutions, and "especially for the celebration of the Nou d'Octubre (October 1st), compels them to reject the proposal.

The announcement by the Association of Victims of the 29-O Dana, the Association of Victims of the Huerta Sur and the Association of Victims of the 29 October 2024 Dana shows that the rift between those affected by the DANA and the Valencian president is widening as the first anniversary of the tragedy approaches. In fact, almost twelve months after the cold snap, the conservative politician has not yet met with representatives of the three entities.

82% of Valencians believe Mazón should resign.

The rejection of Mazón by the three major associations of affected parties coincides with the opinion reported this Monday in a survey published by the Prensa Ibérica group. According to the advance poll, which will be released in full this Thursday, 82% of citizens of the Valencian Community believe that Carlos Mazón should resign due to his management of the DANA (National Association of Autonomous Communities). Furthermore, 90.2% say that, if he does not resign, he should not be the Popular Party candidate in the next elections. If there is no early election, the elections will take place in May 2027.
