The Spanish government is investigating the 19 seconds before the blackout, but has not explained its causes.

In an interview with TVE, Vice President and Minister for Ecological Transition Sara Aagesen did not explain the causes of the general power outage—she reiterated that "all hypotheses" are being analyzed—but she did specify that a loss of power generation 19 seconds before it occurred is being investigated.
