The Prosecutor's Office investigates Pilar Rahola for hate crime and complicity with genocide in Gaza
The public ministry has admitted for processing a complaint from two militants of the Socialist Youth Organization
BarcelonaThe Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Barcelona has admitted for processing a complaint against Pilar Rahola for the crimes of incitement to hatred and complicity with genocide in Gaza. As reported by El matí de Catalunya Ràdio and confirmed by ARA, the public prosecutor's office has ordered investigations following the complaint filed by two militants of the Socialist Youth Organization (OJS), who pointed to the communicator's political and media activity and her public statements in favor of the state of Israel.
The two activists filed the complaint in February after Rahola denounced them for throwing red paint on her during a conference by the Martí l’Humà Foundation in La Garriga. With this action, which took place in October 2024, the militants already wanted to denounce the role of the also writer as a "spokesperson for the Zionist war and barbarism", in the words of the OJS. "We fight the accomplices of genocide, we fight the enemy within our home", the organization proclaimed then.
The subsequent complaint to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which was admitted for processing on April 13, indicated that Rahola's activity regarding the war in Gaza "is not disinterested," as the OJS recalls in a press release disseminated this Thursday. "It responds to a Zionist propaganda campaign aimed at generating a climate of hostility against the Palestinian population while whitewashing the responsibility for genocides," the organization reiterates.
Sources from the Public Prosecutor's Office explain that what has been done now is to open investigation proceedings to decide whether to file a complaint with a court or, on the contrary, to dismiss it. The proceedings have been assigned to the Central Unit for Hate Crimes and Discrimination of the Mossos d'Esquadra.
