The PP exports the attack over the Cerdán case to Catalonia and the Basque Country

The Popular Party is trying to link Salvador Illa and the PNV to the alleged corruption plot.

MadridThe Santos Cerdán case has given the PP ammunition to try to deliver the final blow to the Spanish government. Sánchez's parliamentarians in Congress, whom the PP has accused of complicity for weeks for not withdrawing their support, have also exported the attack to Catalonia and the Basque Country. Alejandro Fernández asked the president of the Generalitat to explain why his name appears in the report by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, which accuses Cerdán of being the mastermind of a network of illegal commissions in the awarding of public works contracts. Fernandez asked him "who is Chili" Because the police document mentions that Isla, when he was Minister of Health, spoke with a person by that name on Signal. Isla claimed he didn't know who it was and denied any involvement in any wrongdoing.

The Catalan People's Party's strategy of attacking from this flank did not stop there, and this week Fernández has returned to trying to identify who Chili was. "Xiajuan Li, Xi Li, a Chinese citizen supposedly wanted today who blamed the Ministry of Health for directing 361 million euros in defective masks," he said, referring to a report from The Objective. Isla threatened Fernández with legal action to link him to the Cerdán case.

In the case of the Basque Country, the target of the attacks is the PNV, which has also expressed its outrage at the PP's strategy. The president of the Basque PP, Javier de Andrés, with the endorsement of Génova, links the Basque nationalists to Cerdán due to the fact that businessman Iñaki Alzaga, whom he connects to the PNV, has allegedly done business with the alleged suspect. Cerdán's partner during his time in NavarraJoseba Antxón Alonso Egurrola, owner of Servinabar. Several media outlets have reported that Alzaga, president of Nortegás, which has a 12.5% stake from the Basque government presided over by the PNV and the Noticias Group, close to the party, is allegedly a partner of Alonso Egurrola in a company called Alegure. Alzaga reportedly holds a 4% stake, and the company has reportedly been awarded the contract for a school project worth €2.6 million.

The Basque People's Party (PP) has demanded an explanation from the PNV regarding these business dealings by a businessman of its "utmost confidence." The Basque nationalists have accused the PP of "blowing up all the bridges" the day after the spokesperson in Congress and future secretary general of the party, Miguel Tellado, attempted to establish contact with the PNV to discuss a possible vote of no confidence. "The PP is Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," quipped sources from the PNV leadership quoted by Efe.
