The ex-husband of a PP mayor in the Valencian Community was found dead inside a container.
Investigators have not yet arrested anyone suspected of involvement in the attack.
ValenciaThe ex-husband of the provincial deputy of the Popular Party and mayor of Almassora, Maria Tormo, was found dead early Sunday morning inside a container in a central area of Castellón de la Plana, according to the newspaper LevantThe victim, Vicente Domínguez, 45, was a computer scientist and the father of a daughter with the Conservative leader.
The body was found inside a container located on Avenida Pérez Galdós, in an area close to the central Ribalta Park and the Mijares River thoroughfare, one of the arteries that runs through the heart of the city of La Plana. Specifically, it was found by cleaning service workers at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday. The workers reportedly noticed the body when they dumped the container into the garbage truck.
The police investigation is trying to clarify the circumstances of the death. Therefore, they are taking statements from the victim's family, friends, and witnesses. At this time, there is no confirmation of what happened, as the forensic report and the results of the evidence collected at the scene are still awaited. No suspects have been arrested.
Law enforcement officers also took statements from several people who were in the area, which was very crowded in the hours before the body was found, as the central Ribalta Park, located next to Pérez Galdós Avenue, was crowded on Saturday night and into the early hours.
One of the police hypotheses is that Domínguez was the victim of an assault and that the attackers ended up throwing him inside the container. To clarify the events, National Police officers are working with security images from nearby establishments to reconstruct the events. Another source of information for investigators will be the cell phone, electronic devices, and social media accounts of the victim, and thus determine if he had met someone on Saturday night and where.
The body of the ex-husband of the mayor of Almassora is not the only tragic discovery this year of a person close to the Popular Party. The body of businessman and former mayor of Gandia, Arturo Torró, was found in February. The body was found near a car stopped on a highway, with a chest wound consistent with a gunshot wound and signs of possible strangulation. Eight months after the events, the police have still not been able to identify the perpetrators of the crime.
