The ANC announces a great demonstration for the tenth anniversary of 1-O

BarcelonaThe president of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC), Josep Vila, has announced the preparation of a major demonstration to commemorate –in the autumn of 2027– the tenth anniversary of the referendum of October 1, 2017. The objective of these protests, Vila explained, is to take advantage of the momentum that this anniversary can bring, and to “reactivate” and reorganize “the independence movement.” "It must signify the trigger for a new, strong, and determined push for independence," said Vila.

The first step the ANC wants to take is to summon the pro-independence civil entities during the upcoming summits to a summit and begin preparing the mobilization. “We invite everyone, from a broad and non-partisan transversality, to be part of the project,” declared Vila.

Thus, the president of the ANC has called for the revival of the independence movement and has declared the “mourning” of the Process “dismissed.” “Nothing of decadence, Independence. Let us turn around this decadent Catalonia presided over by an incapable government and always at the service of the master in Madrid,” exclaimed the pro-independence leader.

In this sense, Vila has asked to abandon “the stage of internal struggles, delays and demobilization”. “Let us turn the mistakes of the past into lessons”, he insisted. “Let us decisively open a new stage. Let us go out into the street with strength and say loudly that enough is enough! That we are here! And that Catalonia wants independence”, added the president of the ANC.

The president of the ANC has lamented that Catalans live in a Catalonia that “is not the one they want nor the one they deserve” and “growing unrest is perceived everywhere”. A sentiment that Vila finds understandable due to the “unworthy” infrastructures, the “precarious” working conditions, an educational system “overwhelmed and lacking resources” and “scandalous and impossible housing prices”. And, according to the pro-independence leader, the structural cause “is the lack of self-government” and the fact of “remaining subjected to Spanish colonization and plunder”. “Independence or decadence”, exclaimed Vila.

In turn, the president of Òmnium Cultural, Xavier Antich, has also placed the tenth anniversary of October 1st and once the exiled pro-independence leaders have returned, with Carles Puigdemont at the "forefront", as the moment to "address the political conflict" against Spain. "We are better prepared than in 2017, all the struggle of these years makes sense". "We will do it again. And this time, we will do it better", said Antich.
