A new demonstration against Mazón is called to demand the suspension of his immunity

ValenciaOn August 29 at 7:00 PM, more than 200 civic, social, and trade union entities from the Valencian Country, along with victim associations, the Local Emergency and Reconstruction Committees (CLER), and the Valencian Social Agreement (ASV), have called a rally in the Plaza de la Mare de Déu in Valencia to demand the removal of Carlos Mazón, former president of the Valencian Generalitat.

"This Saturday will be 22 months since the storm. It will also be 22 months since the organized Valencian people have been taking to the streets to denounce the negligence of Mazón and his Council," they state in a press release. The organizations describe the management that the former president made of the storm as "a negligence that caused one of the biggest natural catastrophes in the Valencian Country to become a human catastrophe."

On this day, they want to remember again the 233 mortal victims (the 231 victims recognized by the judge of Catarroja and the two workers who died in reconstruction tasks). They claim that "they would still be alive if it had not been for the dereliction of duties by the Valencian government, in general, and by whoever was its president at that moment, in particular."

22 months later

Almost two years after the catastrophe, they state that many unanswered questions remain, such as why the alert arrived late or why Mazón retains his deputy seat after the instruction by the judge of Catarroja has very clearly pointed out his responsibility in the events.
