Junts says that the pardon of the FLA is "a joke" and avoids saying whether it will vote in favor
Puigdemont's party denounces "coffee for everyone" and Montero calls for avoiding "maximalisms"
BarcelonaTogether he is not at all satisfied with the forgiveness of the FLA debt in the terms in which it was announced. The spokesperson for the Catalan regional government in the Parliament, Mònica Sales, has assured in a press conference that "experience shows us that it could be another joke." Thus, she has downplayed the importance of this forgiveness of 17.104 million euros of the Generalitat's debt with the autonomous liquidity fund created during the crisis and has criticized its formulation. "All the communities will benefit, the proportional part that the Catalans will pay is the same," she said, and she has emphasized that this "does not fix the financing problem nor resolve the fiscal deficit," of 20,000 million euros a year. Sales herself was asked about what her party will do when the proposal for forgiveness reaches Congress, but she avoided commenting because she said that the decision corresponds to the Madrid group.
"One can have an aspiration for maximums, but when proposals are put on the table that are moving in this direction, it would make no sense to say No. Dialogue always, but between getting everything you want and moving towards the objective there is a long way to go," replied the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero. The Generalitat will benefit from this debt forgiveness if the proposal goes ahead, along with the rest of the autonomous communities of the common regime of the State, which would save 83.2 billion euros. of Carles Puigdemont is the consolidation of "coffee for everyone", in the words of Sales, a way of doing things that he has warned is not "the option" of Junts. Riol Junqueras and the Spanish government, which culminates an agreement on this matter between Republicans and Socialists.
Precisely one of the criticisms that Sales has made is that "more debt will be forgiven in Andalusia than in Catalonia", an element that has already brought to light the contradictions of the PP on this issue, which although it criticizes the supposed "privileges" of Catalonia governs the most benefited communities. In fact, the region governed by Juanma Moreno Bonilla will have a debt forgiveness of 18.791 million, while the Valencian Community governed by Carlos Mazón will be able to liquidate 11.21 billion euros of debt, an amount slightly higher than the 8.644 billion that will be forgiven in the Community of Madrid presided over by Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
On the other hand, the vice president of Junts has also touched on the idea that the proposal is a debt forgiven to the Catalans: "This money belongs to the Catalans, so we should not thank anyone," she said. When the proposal reaches the Spanish Lower House, the vote of the members of the Junts will be decisive in tipping the balance.
