ERC warns that the company that manages commuter rail must be "Catalan-compliant."

ERC has issued a warning to the Spanish government following the Ministry of Transport's offer to the unions to make the joint venture that is to manage Cercanías (the commuter rail network) dependent on Renfe. "The company that should manage Cercanías is a company that obeys Catalan authorities," stated Isaac Albert, the deputy secretary of communications.

The State is negotiating with the unions to ensure that the new commuter rail operator will be dependent on Renfe to avoid a strike.
