BarcelonaThe Catalan Parliament's Speaker, Laura Borràs, will start a round of contacts to invest the next president of the Generalitat when all the parliamentary groups are constituted, she explained this Thursday from Lledoners, where she has visited the seven male political prisoners. Thus, Borràs will begin to speak with all parties to know which candidate has the most support next week. In spite of the fact that right now only the ERC's parliamentary group is yet to be constituted, ERC sources say that they plan to do it just before the deadline on Tuesday, which would mean Borràs would have to wait until the middle of next week. Thus, the round would begin three or four days before the deadline for the investiture plenary session on 26 March. And all this will only happen, according to Borràs, if she is shown that a candidate has enough support to stand for an investiture debate.

The key to the viability of a candidate is now in the negotiations between ERC, JxCat and the CUP. The talks have not yet yielded a Government structure or even which parties will form it -everything indicates that the coalition between Junts and ERC will be repeated, but the CUP has not yet said its last words. So far there has been talk of strategy on the Independence bid - as the ARA advanced on Tuesday, with the definition of a new strategic coordination body - and there is still a lack of definition of the areas of the Government. Yesterday the CUP held a political conference precisely to put pressure on JxCat and ERC on the commitments that the future Government must have. Beyond who can lead each department, the anti-capitalists ask to know to what extent ERC and JxCat are willing to accept the proposals that they have raised in social and national matters, before deciding the direction of their vote, which is in fact, decisive to tip the balance in Aragonès's favour.

Visit to Lledoners

One of Borràs's first actions of as Parliament Speaker -she was appointed a week ago- has been to go to Lledoners to visit political prisoners. She has spent over two hours with the seven prisoners. At the exit of the prison, Borràs has explained that the ex ministers are concerned about the court decision, which decided to revoke their open prison regime and has admitted the complaint against former Speaker Roger Torrent and former members of the parliamentary bureau. Also, according to Borràs, they have spoken about the presentation of the Amnesty Law this Tuesday in the Congress of Deputies. "There is a possible arithmetic that this will go ahead, but there is a lack of political will," lamented Borràs.
