Aliança takes advantage of the AfD's victory in Saxony to puff out its chest and mocks the 1936 anti-fascist poster

Also here at home. Aliança Catalana has shown its happiness for the triumph of the AfD candidate, Ulrich Siegmund, in this state of the former East Germany.

Aliança and Catalonia will not miss this date with history!", the Islamophobic formation has tweeted from its foreign office account.

When a user responded to Aliança with "You shall not pass" using an image of the anti-fascist poster by Pere Català i Pic, made in 1936 during the Civil War, in which a Catalan espadrille is seen stepping on a Nazi swastika, Aliança's foreign office retorted: "We have already passed!" The party, however, ended up deleting the tweet a while later.

Previously, the leader of Aliança Catalana, Sílvia Orriols, responded to the tweet by the President of the Parliament, Josep Rull, who lamented the victory of the German far-right in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt. "If it depended on deluded people like you, Europe wouldn't even wake up," the far-right leader tweeted. The President of the Parliament lamented the electoral results in the Germanic region and asserted that Europe has woken up "darker, less compassionate, and more sinister" this Monday. "History insists on repeating itself," wrote the Junts leader. "Your pro-immigration policies, apart from being dark and sinister, are suicidal," Orriols replied.

The secretary of programs and Aliança candidate in Barcelona also replied to Rull, defending the xenophobic theses of Alternative for Germany. "Europe wakes up just like yesterday: tired of politicians who remain silent in the face of the massive arrival of immigrants while implementing energy policies that dismantle industry. The AfD represents those who say ENOUGH," wrote the Aliança ideologue on social media.
