Serena Williams publicly explains that she has used weight-loss drugs

Through this revelation, Williams has also become the face of the product, whose marketing company has her husband as an investment partner. "All my life I've heard negative comments, but also many positive ones, about my physical appearance. Now I don't care what people say about my body," says the athlete. After two pregnancies with her children Alexis and Adira, born in 2017 and 2023, Williams says she struggled to lose weight and that she couldn't succeed with either diet or exercise.

"My coach kept telling me to lose weight, but there was no way. I spent all day on the track, literally, doing nothing else. I had been the ultimate super-athlete, always competing and in exceptional health, but I couldn't get back to that point, no matter what I did. At the beginning of 2024, she began injecting the product weekly and now, she says, she feels "great, healthy, light physically and mentally." The athlete anticipates the criticism she thinks she'll receive about whether she's taken a shortcut when it comes to achieving physical change. "I've always worked hard, I know what it takes to be the best. It was very frustrating to always do the same thing and not be able to get off the scale," says Williams, adding: "Sometimes you need help. Whatever decision you make, it will be okay."
