Dani Alves, from prisoner to evangelical preacher: "I've made a pact with God."

The former footballer's rape case is still in the hands of the Supreme Court.

Last March, the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) decided to acquit former footballer Dani Alves of a crime of sexual assault. A few months earlier, the Barcelona Court had sentenced him to four and a half years in prison concluding that he raped a young woman in the restroom of the Sutton nightclub on December 30, 2022. However, the higher court overturned this sentence, which is now in the hands of the Supreme Court, the final stage of the judicial process, after the Prosecutor's Office and the private prosecution appealed against it. At the moment, they are still studying the appeal.

Following the acquittal, Dani Alves was released from Brians 2 prison, where he spent more than a year. Since then, little has been known about the footballer's life, although in recent hours he has once again been the subject of many posts on social media. Specifically, the former Barça footballer attended a ceremony at the Elim Girona evangelical church and gave a long and heartfelt speech, assuring us that he had made "a pact with God."

"You have to have faith, I'm proof of that," Alves assures to the applause of the crowd and while music plays in the background. Alves affirms that the pact with God was at its worst: "I will serve you, but take care of my house," he says was the agreement. The former Barça player repeatedly proclaims "the power of God" and links it to the birth of his son. "Love is loving when one doesn't deserve it," Alves continues, concluding that "in the midst of the storm" a messenger led him to the Church. Evangelical churches are Christian communities that are part of the evangelical movement, a branch of Protestantism.
