Ariana Grande makes her relationship with Ricky Alvarez official
The singer and the dancer had already been together for a year, from 2015 to 2016
BarcelonaSinger Ariana Grande, 33, made her relationship with Ricky Alvarez, a former dancer on her team with whom she previously dated a decade ago, official this week. The confirmation came via Instagram, where Grande herself published a photo album that includes two pictures of her and Alvarez together, tagging him directly in the post. Grande and Alvarez met when he was part of the singer's dance troupe during the Honeymoon Tour, around 2015. Their friendship then turned into a romantic relationship, although the couple only stayed together for approximately one year, until 2016. Since the breakup, however, they have maintained a close friendship.
Rumors of reconciliation began circulating in June of this year, and on July 14, a source confirmed to "People" magazine that the couple was back together, although "taking it very slowly." The signs began to pile up: Grande modified the lyrics of "Thank U, Next" during a concert at the Barclays Center in New York, singing a version that directly referenced Alvarez. The dancer, in fact, attended that concert and sat in the VIP area, near the singer's parents. The couple was also seen walking through Central Park during their stay in New York.
This new romantic chapter comes months after Grande ended her relationship with actor Ethan Slater, with whom she had been since 2023, when they met while filming the movie "Wicked." Before Slater, the singer had been married to real estate agent Dalton Gomez, from whom she separated in 2023.
