Time of hawks
The hawks are winning the New World Order battle: those of the Old Testament, with their eye for an eye, those who make life impossible (even more, those who make your life impossible), those of dehumanization, hatred, and division. Just listen to the tone and vocabulary with which US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth spoke to his generals.
Granted, the strongest have always dominated. The power of might is as old as humanity itself, but over centuries of revolt against absolute power, extermination camps, and atomic bombs, enlightened thought has provided the world with the power of reason, which has managed to act as a counterweight and conscience to temper the most aggressive impulses. We have formulated aspirations that honor us: "All men are created equal," the right "to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," "Liberty, equality, fraternity," "The recognition of the inherent dignity of all members of the human family is the foundation of liberty, justice, and peace in the world..." naiveté, today. In fact, the hawks want them to sound like naiveté, a weakness, a luxury we cannot afford. But they are not, and, in fact, these ideas are the only ones that can prevent us from living again in the peace of cemeteries. Not long ago, Aznar said that "if Israel loses what it is doing, the West would be on the verge of total defeat." Rather, total defeat began when the West refused to practice the ideas of progress it itself created and on which it has sustained fragile but welcoming edifices for all, like democracy.
