There is a certain left that views an Iranian nuclear Islamism favorably as a counterbalance to Israeli military power. Does this argument make sense? Let's recap. It was in 2002 that moles from the opposition People's Mujahedin Organization revealed the existence of the secret nuclear weapons program of the Shiite Totalitarian Theocracy (TTXI) in Natanz. Then came the economic sanctions from the UN, the US, and the European Union against Iran, as well as the first cyberwar in history – the sending of the Stuxnet virus to the same nuclear power plant, organized by Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu in 2010 – as well as the assassination of the regime's nuclear scientists, attacks, and sabotage, which continue to this day. Allah did not inform his envoys in Iran that the eyes of American satellites were observing every step of their “hidden” nuclear activities, without Washington having any intention of overthrowing them at the time. With a corrupt and exacerbated neoliberal capitalism and a medieval persecution against the true Iranian anti-imperialist forces, the TTXI had contributed to turning what had been the most relevant power in the region into an outcast and isolated state, known worldwide for beating, year after year, its own execution record and for persecuting rebellious Iranian teenage girls who had brought it to its knees – more so than Mossad spies dressed in cassocks and turbans.
The ayatollahs' bomb was not intended to deter the Jewish theocracy of Israel, which does possess dozens of these weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). In reality, Iran has no historical dispute with this country, with which it shares no border. The idea of “erasing it from the map” is also not due to the Palestinian genocide – hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, Afghans, Lebanese, Syrians, Libyans, or Yemenis Muslims have also been massacred by imperialism and Zionism – but rather due to Israel's audacity in seizing the Al-Aqsa Mosque, from which it is believed that Muhammad ascended to heaven. At the same time, the enmity of the current Israeli fascist regime with Iran stems from the fact that this giant, 81 times larger than Israel and one of the world's main reserves of black gold, will always be – regardless of who governs it – a barrier to its absolute hegemony over the region. And now that it has realized that it is difficult to dismantle the entire Shiite nuclear program, it has decided to put an end to its regime.
"If we had the nuclear weapon, they wouldn't have attacked us," some Iranian leaders lament. They ignore that, on the one hand, they are being attacked precisely for wanting to have it and, on the other, that Israel was already bombing nuclear reactors in Iraq in 1981 and Syria in 2007. WMDs aim to massacre large unarmed populations to achieve concessions from their rulers. Let's remember that the US turned tens of thousands of children, elderly people, pregnant women, and men into ashes in Japan, without their Emperor Hirohito suffering a scratch.
On the other hand, if the radicals of Judaism or Islam – both Abrahamic-Semitic religions – want to find supposed justifications for the slaughter of civilians, they will say that their common God orders in the "Deuteronomy" the ethnic cleansing of various peoples, or that the Quran commands to behead all "infidels." And, while the world already knows about the Palestinian genocide, few know that the TTXI, in 1988 alone, massacred nearly 50,000 Iranian political prisoners – both male and female – or that in January of that year it sacrificed at least 20,000 Shiite civilians, including a hundred children between the ages of 3 and 17, to rescue the ruling kakistocracy.
Not only that. While Iran's futile attempts to obtain a nuclear bomb endangered the lives of millions of Iranians, they simultaneously fattened the personal accounts of the Islamic authorities, a kleptocracy that has devoured millions of dollars from the nuclear program, leading 85% of the population into absolute poverty. Furthermore, there are ample suspicions that the wave of poisonings of schoolgirls in many provinces of Iran, which occurred between 2022 and 2023, was a punishment promoted by the TTXI in the form of a chemical weapons test.
Now there is talk of peace, but it is only a truce that Trump is seeking because of the Football World Cup. With Iran, Trump applies the Komodo dragon strategy: he does not kill it with a single blow, but inflicts a deep wound and waits for it to bleed out until its forces are exhausted to devour it. The Islamic regime is dead, but the business of the nuclear race in the region is not.
