We read in ARA that the president of the employers' association of Castilla-La Mancha, meeting with other employers at one of those gatherings they hold from time to time (at the CEOE assembly), has denounced or perhaps criticized that young people request sick leave for sentimental reasons. "Now we have a sick leave not because the company has mistreated them, but because their girlfriend has left them," he said. And he also said, when he had already gained momentum, that young people are "idiots" and that anything that happens to them at work is already a problem.
We note that for self-employed workers it is the exact opposite. We have never taken sick leave for this reason, because boyfriends and girlfriends only leave us if we leave our job. Depressed, we are worth nothing, because we don't invoice. But normal people, salaried employees, can take sick leave if their girlfriend has left them. I wouldn't say this is exclusive to young people. A worker who takes sick leave because his girlfriend has left him will be left by the next girlfriend when she finds out he asked for sick leave because the previous girlfriend left him, and so on until retirement.
In any case, the employer from Castilla-La Mancha doesn't know what he's gotten himself into. He has called young people idiots because they take sick leave when their girlfriend leaves them. These young people, when they read the words the employer has dedicated to them, will become depressed. "He called me an idiot," they will whimper in the corners of the office or warehouse. "This is very hard and it affects me," they will mumble. And then, pulling their hair and scratching themselves incessantly, they will go to the infirmary and ask for sick leave. All of them, en masse. And tomorrow they won't go to work anymore.
