The author comes from a lunch at the City Hall, where she was given a book by Colm Tóibín (the one dedicated to Barcelona) in a black, corporate bag. She has to go, right away, to La Central bookstore to explain, together with Ignasi Aragay, from the newspaper, "How to write an article". As she has very little time, and needs to, before explaining how to write an article, send what she has already written, she enters a Starbucks. She orders one of those coffees that cost as much as a gram of truffle or fentanyl and when they ask for her name – she always invents them to play solitary games – she says: "Pilar Rahola". The other day she said "Raffaella Carrà".
When they called out Pilar Rahola and handed her the coffee, she goes upstairs, looking for a table. She leaves the book bag on the ledge of the glass railing and takes her laptop out of her backpack, with such bad luck that Colm Tóibín's book falls onto the table below, on the lower floor. A coffee from the table spills and falls onto the long dress of the woman with a hijab who owns it. The author lets out a scream, leans over the railing, and then it's the latte she was holding in her hand that, due to the wrist twist, falls onto the woman's headscarf. Luckily, it was iced. "I'll be right back!", she shouts.
She grabs the bag with the laptop, runs downstairs. The woman with the scarf (from the Chanel brand), very angry, throws the iced coffee at her. A local watches the scene. He sees the cup. "You're Pilar Rahola and you've assaulted this Muslim woman!", he shouts at her. "No, no!", she stammers. And she covers her head with the City Hall bag, because she sees she's being filmed. With her head covered (she quickly makes two holes in it) she goes out into the street. She sips a little of the iced latte, which she regrets leaving there. The local customers look at her with disapproval. "Racist!", one shouts at her. Run, run, because she thinks they want to follow her, and to throw them off, she enters a souvenir shop. She buys a scarf and covers herself completely. Now she can go explain how to write an article.
