Foment wants to re-establish bridges with Salvador Illa

BarcelonaOne of the objectives of the re-elected president of Foment de Treball, Josep Sánchez Llibre, is to "deepen the relationship with the Generalitat government" and build "a space for deep and permanent dialogue". At the start of his third term, once the statutory limit of two that existed before was abolished, Sánchez Llibre looks towards the government of Salvador Illa.

Aware of the deterioration of the relationship with the Catalan executive after the honeymoon period experienced when the PSC was in opposition, the president of Foment has lowered his critical tone at the assembly that proclaimed him president. He has put the expression "fiscal hell" in the closet to define tax policy, and has replaced it with "fiscal suffocation".

With this, he wants to demonstrate, in any case, that an outstretched hand does not equate to a blank check, but it does represent the will to rebuild bridges. That is why he applauds that the PSC and ERC are willing to agree on the Generalitat's accounts –"A country without budgets cannot function," he said. But Foment sets limits that tend to align more with the policies defended by Junts than with those of an Illa government supported by the Republicans and the Commons. And an important one is that the tax pressure on companies and families should not increase. We will not have to wait long to see if the bridges are rebuilt.
