Óscar Puente, Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Spanish government, December 2024: "There is no railway chaos in Spain. We must be serious; we have a great service."

Yes, please, let's be serious. I'm addressing you, a commuter rail passenger who thought that once the train drivers' strike was called off, Monday's trains would run at the same time. Didn't you think that the strike was called off late on Sunday, and that it's not always humanly feasible to notify the drivers and reschedule the service for a Monday?

Minister Puente, August 2024: "There has never been a better rail service than the one currently provided in Spain." Yes, you, the person writing in the previous paragraph, tell me, in good conscience and without letting yourself be carried away by the understandable discomfort of a difficult day: don't you think it's enough to criticize the best rail service in the history of Spain? Can't you accept that everyone has a bad day?

Minister Puente, August 2024: "We have the most extensive high-speed network in the world after China's." Listen, aren't you incredibly proud when you think that only the Chinese surpass us in terms of high-speed networks? Couldn't you think with a little more empathy for the whole world and less selfishness stemming from your personal mobility problems?

When an overhead line burns and the carriage catches fire, when a driver walks off and leaves people trapped in the carriage because they've exceeded their working hours, when all the information screens go dark, when a passenger falls onto the track so the platform is dark, when a strike is called off, August 2024: "Let the public have no doubt that there is a government committed to sustainable transport working to improve it."
