Three spas to escape from the day-to-day (and newly renovated!)
Each with its own stamp, they are three spas where to live unique experiences but that always end with a feeling of renewal to return to work the next morning
BarcelonaAs a complement for when tourism days have involved a lot of walking, spas are great allies when on urban holidays. However, they are also of great help when we are not traveling anywhere but want to disconnect a little from routine life and daily stress. If this is our plan, we have some new ones here at home that are open to people who do not stay in the hotels where they are located but want to spend a relaxing time there or undergo all sorts of treatments. In fact, allowing yourself a luxury without having to take planes is an even greater luxury, and at a lower price.
1- Soho House
The Soho House hotel in Plaça Duc de Medinaceli in Barcelona is a private club that has decided to open its small but great spa to everyone who wants to go. The Soho Health Club, which is open every day of the week, has just finished some renovation works that have allowed it to incorporate all sorts of novelties. The most appealing is, undoubtedly, the therapeutic red light bed, designed to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness and radiance. Among its benefits, it also highlights how it helps to reduce inflammation, cellular regeneration, and relaxation.
To the body treatments it already offered, the contrast stone therapy has been incorporated, a treatment that combines heat and cold stimuli to release tension and promote deep relaxation, and the aromatherapy ritual, a personalized treatment based on essential oil blends adapted to each person and, they assure, designed to restore balance between body and mind. The space has also incorporated the Biologique Recherche brand into its offering, which proposes three new facial treatments, each designed to respond to different skin needs. Soho House's offering is led by the British firm Cowshed.
2- Halcyon Spa
The Halcyon Spa is tranquil due to the space's philosophy, but also due to its location, the SLS hotel, at one end of the city of Barcelona and in the heart of Port Fòrum. Newly opened, the spa begins its journey through a blue tunnel lined with translucent panels that lead to the water area, divided into four treatment rooms – including a double room with a private jacuzzi – as well as a relaxation room and a circuit of sauna and steam experiences.
The jewel in the crown of the space is a pool inspired by the Caribbean cenotes, which is equipped with a soft, enveloping rain effect and a digital floor that transforms the space into an authentic cinematic escape. But returning to the Mediterranean, the spa stays home to choose its allies and collaborates with the Barcelona-based cosmetics firm SEPAI, which is introducing its customizable formulas in a spa in the city for the first time.
Among the most outstanding proposals of this relaxation space at the SLS is the The Lift treatment, which uses 3D light technology designed to firm and sculpt the face and define contours. For those who prefer to relax in company, Halcyon offers the Shine then Dine plan, an exclusive treatment for two that culminates in a private gourmet dinner served in the same space.
3- Le Meridien Ra
One of the hotels with the best spa in Catalonia is Le Meridien Ra, in El Vendrell. This well-known establishment on the Costa Daurada has recently reopened its facilities after a thorough renovation to raise the stakes even higher. The resulting proposal, called Explore Spa, incorporates an innovative approach based on circadian rhythms, the natural biological cycles that regulate the body's internal balance throughout the day. Each treatment offered there has been designed to adapt to these rhythms: they aim to both energize those receiving them and relax them completely. Notable examples include the Silhouette by Alqvimia, a powerful body remodeling ritual that combines exfoliation, body wrap, and massage, and the Sound of the Sea for Two by Natura Bissé, a sensory experience accompanied by the sounds of the sea and essential oils.
In addition, the Explore Spa offers a circuit of thermal experiences with water extracted from the Mediterranean, four thalassotherapy pools, a bio sauna, an ice room, and a hammam. As a luxury complement, the space incorporates programs dedicated to sleep quality – designed to promote more restorative rest – Ayurvedic and Thai.
