The most special edition of the Vallviva festival
Tickets go on sale tomorrow for what will be the first without its founder, businessman Eudald Morera.
The DamsExcept for the fifth edition of the Vallviva festival, a very special one because it will be the first without its founder, Eudald Morera, who passed away last November at the age of 59. Morera decided to organize this festival At a time when her life was going through a very difficult time, diagnosed with advanced cancer and against the wishes of her family and close friends. Ten weeks passed from the moment she proposed it to the first edition. "Obviously it will be a very, very special edition. You have a bittersweet feeling, you are happy to see that his project, the legacy he has left us, continues forward, but we are still missing a lot. The figure of the director who ended up making the decisions... Well, assuming this role means taking on more responsibilities and more emotional burden, but very happy and happy to continue," says the eldest daughter of the founder, who at 27 years old is leading the project.
The festival has had from the beginning the charitable purpose of raising funds for cancer research, so the profits go to the Vall d'Hebron Campus. It will be held from July 9 to 13 and will have a lineup with some performances that will be exclusive to Catalonia with top-level artists and for all audiences.
It will start on Wednesday, July 9, with a moving proposal in tribute to Eudald Morera, with the concert of Tony Ann, a Canadian pianist and composer known for his captivating performances and compositions that fuse classical and contemporary elements. The artist will be visiting La Garrotxa as part of his world tour, which will also include visits to cities such as Paris, London, Lisbon, Mexico City, Tokyo, Seoul, and Manila, among others.
The following day, Thursday, July 10th, Luz Casal will be the artist performing on the main stage, in her only concert this season in Catalonia. The Galician singer, with a career spanning more than four decades and achievements that have shaped generations, will present her new work, an opportunity to hear her new songs live, as well as her timeless classics.
On Friday, July 11, Sopa de Cabra will present their latest album, Soul, which features collaborations with artists such as Santi Balmes, Pol Batlle, Triquell and Yolanda Sey, reflecting his desire to explore new musical horizons.
On July 12, the band recognized as the world's best Queen tribute band, God Save The Queen, will perform, dazzling with their performances revisiting the greatest achievements of the legendary British band led by Freddie Mercury.
Saturday the 12th's program will also feature a performance by renowned comedian Bruno Oro, who will perform on the Cúpula Stage in the mid-afternoon. This will be the first edition of the festival to include this type of performance, complementing Vallviva's musical offerings and reaching out to other audiences.
Just like last year, the festival runs until Sunday, July 13th and will conclude with a concert for family audiences by El Pot Petit, the children's music group that has been revolutionizing stages across the country since 2009. With over 1,000 concerts, it has become a favorite among children. Their participation in the festival reaffirms the festival's commitment to offering families a day full of magic and fun, where they can enjoy other children's activities that will accompany the special program for that day.
Quality gastronomy has been a focus of the festival since the beginning.
One of the festival's highlights is the quality cuisine and commitment to the region offered to attendees. This year, it features four Michelin-starred restaurants and three distinct areas: Michelin Star, Signature Cuisine, and Km 0 product stalls.
This year, the Michelin Star Zone features the prestigious restaurants Les Cols (with three Michelin stars), Nandu Jubany, Ca Enric del Valle de Bianya, and Alianza de Inglés 1919 (all with one star), each offering their own exclusive menus each day.
The new Signature Cuisine project continues and expands with a new restaurant, so attendees will have the opportunity (depending on the day) to sample the offerings of Grupo Quince Ous, Restaurante el Equilibrio, or Can Xapes, all renowned and local.
Finally, as usual, there will be a stall area where you can taste the best Km 0 products offered by the producers themselves.
The different spaces will be open every day of the festival except on Sunday, when the Km 0 space will be open exclusively to families, with hours adapted to this special day for families.
The Vallviva Foundation is now called the Eudald Morera Foundation.
The Vallviva Festival is an initiative of the Vallviva Foundation, Royalverd, and Noel, two family businesses rooted in La Garrotxa. The Foundation aims to promote any project or activity aimed at the physical, mental, and social well-being of people, especially those affected by cancer. Founded in 2021, it aims to host initiatives like the Vallviva Festival and open itself to new charitable projects.
This edition will be the first without its president and founder, Eudald Morera, the soul of the Festival. In his honor, the foundation has changed its name to the Eudald Morera Foundation.
In the last edition, more than 10,000 tickets were sold over the five days of the festival, which contributed to a donation of €20,000 to the Vall d'Hebron Campus. The festival has 252 collaborating companies. tickets go on sale starting April 11th.
