The 'Harry Potter' series (Max) already has its Dumbledore: this will be the actor who will take on the iconic character

Actor John Lithgow will play wizard Harry Potter's mentor

BarcelonaOne of the major projects of the Max platform for the coming years is the serial version of Harry Potter, a great literary and cinematic phenomenon. For months, the production has been holding castings to find actors who will take on characters such as the wizard Harry Potter, his companions Hermione and Ron Weasley, or Harry's mentor, Albus Dumbledore. For this role, it has already been revealed who the chosen interpreter is: the American John Lithgow.

In an interview with the digital Screen Rant, the actor has confirmed that he has signed on for the series and that it will be a project that will define the last chapter of his life. Lithgow takes over from Richard Harris and Michael Gambon, who played the character in the film series. Harris played the wizard in the first and second films, but his death in October 2002 meant that Gambon had to replace him in the following installments.

Although Lithgow has hinted that he will play the role, Max has not confirmed the news. The actor has explained that the decision to play Dumbledore was not an easy one because it involves a long-term commitment. Max plans to do one season for each book, which means that the series will have seven in total. "I'll be 87 when we have the wrap party for the series," said Lithgow, who is currently 79 years old.
