The (few) celebrities who have raised their voices against Trump
Many celebrities have become prominent voices of criticism, although some have become more reserved.

BarcelonaUS President Donald Trump is a deeply divisive figure in American society. His statements and political actions against climate change, immigration, women's rights, and freedom of expression and the press generate die-hard followers and critics who reject him because they see him as a threat to democratic institutions.
Many celebrities have become prominent voices of criticism, although some have moved from having very public negative opinions to being more reserved. Figures such as pop singer Miley Cyrus, who welcomed Trump's first term in 2016 with a video in which she wept inconsolably, has chosen to remain silent this time, while her father and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus performed at Trump's inauguration. Actresses Meryl Streep and Natalie Portman, and actor Robert De Niro, who had also been very critical of Trump, are now trying to distance themselves from politics.
This shift in attitude could also be seen in the tone of the last Oscars gala. The 2025 edition was one of the least vindictive in recent memory. There were no major political statements, and the word "Trump" was not mentioned. The only moments that could be considered political were actress Daryl Hannah's brief speech supporting Ukraine and the moment when the film's director No other land, which centers on the friendship between a Palestinian activist and a Jewish Israeli journalist, called for "an end to the injustice and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people."
But despite the growing trend toward silence, there are still well-known figures who publicly oppose Donald Trump.
Rosie O'Donnell
Actress and comedian
Many celebrities, like Tom Hanks, said they would leave the US if Trump won, but only a few, like Rosie O'Donnell, have done so. From Ireland, she said she might return to the United States when "all citizens have equal rights." For years, Trump and the actress have had a public feud. Trump once called her a "pig of a woman."
Mia Farrow
Actress and human rights activist
Actress, activist, and human rights defender Mia Farrow has accused US President Donald Trump of violating a federal court order for the deportation of 238 Venezuelans to El Salvador.
"Impeach Trump! He's breaking the law every day. Prosecute him!" said the actress. The Devil's Seed on his verified Bluesky account. "Clinton was impeached for lying about a relationship with an intern. Trump's crimes are far more serious," he added. "Everything they're doing is illegal and immoral. Why can't we just kick him out?"
Federal Judge James Boasberg ordered a stay on the expulsion of the Venezuelan citizens, citing lack of evidence the migrants posed a credible threat. However, the government then confirmed the plane had already departed for El Salvador, disobeying the court order.
Courtney Love
Singer
Grunge singer Courtney Love is one of the latest figures to opt for leaving the United States and has just applied for British citizenship. Love wants to indefinitely leave the "terrifying" United States, a country where the president and his team behave like imperialists and are like "cyanide." Ellen DeGeneres, Eva Mendes, and Ryan Gosling have also left the country and now reside in other countries, such as the United Kingdom.
Jimmy Kimmel
Television presenter
Jimmy Kimmel, one of the best-known presenters of late shows, often criticizes Trump, always with a touch of irony. Immediately after his inauguration, Kimmel called the presidency a "national nightmare," and jokes about Trump's "romantic" relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin are now commonplace. Other comedians late shows, like Stephen Colbert or Seth Meyers, also dedicate their daily monologues to launching darts at Trump.
Stephen King
Horror novel writer
One of the most vocal celebrities about Donald Trump has been renowned horror novelist Stephen King. King called Trump a danger to the United States and "a traitor, a Putin-loving idiot!" in a message to X, the platform he replaced with Bluesky when Trump was re-elected. Other writers who continue to publicly criticize Trump include Margaret Atwood and Salman Rushdie.
Madonna
Singer
Singer Madonna is a vocal advocate for LGBTIQ+ rights and has strongly criticized some of President Donald Trump's measures affecting the community. Madonna wrote to X, accompanying her message with a Pride flag and broken heart emoji.
Richard Gere
Actor and film producer
Actor, producer, and activist Richard Gere, speaking at this year's Goya Awards, said that America had become "a very dark place with a lantern as president."
In his acceptance speech, he called for a fight against "authoritarianism" and for "be vigilant, have courage, and stand up," especially in the face of mass deportations.
Jane Fonda
Actress and activist
Two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda took a dig at Trump at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards. "By the way, being woke "It's just that you care about other people," she said, referring to the term Trump and his allies use pejoratively to refer to those with a social and political conscience.
Fonda, who for decades has fought as an activist for causes like the one affected "by what's coming our way."
Taylor Swift
Singer
Until 2018, singer Taylor Swift hadn't been politically vocal, but at that time she announced she would support Democrat Phil Bredesen over Republican Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee. She then began speaking out against the president at various times. When George Floyd was murdered by police, she accused the president of "glorifying violence."
A few days ago, during Super Bowl LIX, she received an overwhelming amount of hissing from MAGA supporters for her anti-Trump stance.
Jack White
Singer and former member of the group The White Stripes
Singer Jack White has repeatedly criticized the president. He has described him as a "potential dictator," "a fascist," and, on his latest tour, as a "damn bloated orange gorilla." For White, Trump's series of measures dubbed Project 2025, deportations, abortion bans, support for Putin, and the closure of the Board of Education, are very dangerous.
In August, The White Stripes sued Trump for using one of their songs. Seven Nation Army, in his presidential campaign. They withdrew it a while later, but they could use it again.
