The Falset Wine Fair once again focuses on musical partnerships as an essential part of its program.
The DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant Wine Show and Market will be held from May 2 to 4.
The Falset Wine Fair (DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant Wine Show and Market) is once again betting on music as an integral part of its program, having renewed a partnership that already proved successful in the 2024 edition: with the FIM Vila-seca, on the one hand, and the Garbinada Pop festival, on the other. As a result of this agreement, during the Wine Fair (May 2-4), the following bands will perform in Falset: Andreu Peral, Landry, Mujer Negra Canta, Rambalaya, The Prioratians, and Músicos de Calle.
"The Falset Wine Fair always tries to find a balance between its playful and wine-related soul, and we understand that strengthening the cultural and musical offering helps us create an experience and a space where it is possible to taste wines but also to eat something, chat, chat, be with friends, or feel."
Regarding the FiM – Emerging and Family Music Fair (www.fim.cat) – and the Wine Fair, the town councils of Falset and Vila-seca have decided to renew the collaboration agreement they first established in 2023. The alliance is materialized in the programming of a series of activities related to the world of wine in the Priorat region, such as tastings, on a two-party basis, FiM, which will take place in Vila-seca from May 8 to 11.
The FiM concerts
The two FiM performances in Falset will take place on Saturday, May 3rd. In the morning, it will be soloist Landry's turn. A high-quality show for a family audience from one of the country's most renowned entertainers. With a repertoire of his own songs, as well as classic children's songs and dances, Landry keeps young and old alike amazed and dancing to the beat of the fan.
In the afternoon, the Wine Fair audience will have the opportunity to meet the artist Andreu Peral, a singer-songwriter from Flix who, after having been part of various projects, such as La Mano del Marciano, has been performing solo for a couple of years. Endowed with an energetic live performance, his repertoire skillfully distills fragments that have notably marked his musical career over the years, accompanied by his harmonically tender and captivating voice.
One of the objectives of the agreement is to join forces to promote and centralize the region through two fairs that have become national benchmarks in their respective fields. This agreement is part of the Vila-seca Fair of the Municipality of Vila-seca's desire to establish collaborations with institutions and cultural stakeholders in the region to highlight the social and cultural contributions it makes to the country as a whole.
Garbinada Pop
As for the concerts scheduled for the Garbinada Pop Festival (www.garbinadapop.cat) at the fairgrounds, there will also be two. On Friday afternoon, May 2nd, Dona Negra Canta will perform. This project highlights the central role of African-American women in the construction and dissemination of blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, and soul music during the first half of the 20th century. The project features Brigitte Emaga (vocals); Lalo López (guitar and backing vocals); and Joan Vigo (double bass). On Sunday, May 4th, Rambalaya will perform. This group, led by Swedish drummer Anton Jarl, features the powerful vocals of Jonathan Herrero. This group's roots are in the rhythm and blues of the 1950s and 1960s, ultimately shaping a sound that balances the past and the present.
Outside the Fair stage, in the municipal swimming pool area, Garbinada Pop has also scheduled an evening concert with two groups starting at 11:00 p.m.: The Prioratians and Músics de Carrer. The Prioratins is a group from the Priorat region with a repertoire focused on traditional reggae and ska. Músics de Carrer is a tribute band, with a selection of the best songs from Txarango's four albums. Advance tickets, priced at 6 euros, can be purchased at www.codetickets.com
A consolidated firm
The Falset Wine Fair (a showcase of DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant wines) opened its online platform (www.firadelvi.org) on April 9th. Tickets can be purchased in advance for the in-person Fair. A total of 60 wineries have confirmed their participation. Tastings can be booked at wineries in the Priorat region, belonging to the DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant, between May 5th and 31st. The Fair's opening hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., non-stop. Information and the Fair program are updated at www.firadelvi.org. The Fair has positioned itself as a benchmark fair for the "wine lover" profile, as those passionate about wine culture are defined.
