The Comic Diary is back: the entire ARA illustrated by cartoonists

BarcelonaOn Friday, April 4th, comics will once again spread across the pages of ARA. Coinciding with the start of Comic Barcelona, ​​​​the sector's major fair, the Diari del Còmic returns, a special edition in which all the news will be illustrated by cartoonists. The initiative, which ARA has already promoted in previous years, reinvents current events with the help of a roster of cartoonists who will contribute their perspective on the news; it will, of course, be a collector's edition, an ARA by author (of authors) to keep and frame.

The Diari del Còmic will have a cover of Nadia Hafid, the cartoonist from Terrassa who In 2024 he won the Ventanas Comic Award and has just published the graphic novel Bad smell (Ventanas / Apa Apa). In previous issues of ARA del Cómic, the cover was illustrated by Paco Roca, Max, Miguel Gallardo, Javier Olivares, and Manel Fontdevila. Hafid's cover will be dedicated to the housing crisis, which will be the subject of a special dossier that will include a two-page comic created specifically by the author.

The ARA special comics issue will feature some of the best artists on the scene today: Sagar Forniés, Maribel Carod, Pedro Juan, Glàfira Smith, Camille Vannier, Ed Carosía, Marina Sáez, Lorenzo Montatore, Mari Fouz, Ricardo Efa, Danide, Raquel Ródenas, Pau Valls, Álex Fito, Miquel Ferreres and Manel Fontdevila. The issue will also include an interview with artist Chris Ware, who is opening a major exhibition at the CCCB this Wednesday, and a review of this week's film release (Deaf) in comic strip form, by film critic Joan Pons and cartoonist Guillem Dols.

A comic book 'Let's Read'

On the occasion of the celebration of Comic Barcelona, ​​​​on Saturday, April 5, the literary supplement We read It will be dedicated entirely to comics and will include an interview with the American cartoonist Jaime Hernandez, author of the iconic series Crazy and one of the fair's guests, as well as articles on Dash Shaw, Glàfira Smith and the fifth volume of Vineyard, the anthology of the best comics from the ARA Comic Award.

Comics have always had a special role in the pages of ARA, which publishes a new one-page comic each week in the supplement. Now SundayThe newspaper is also promoting the ARA Catalan Comics Prize, a non-fiction short story competition with a prize of €10,000. Its sixth edition is soon to be held and is supported by the Department of Language Policy of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government).
