Technologies to improve people's lives
Mobile World Capital Barcelona presents its 'Living in tech' experience at MWC

A stand inspired by the classical agoras and porticoed squares in Hall 6 of the Fira is the gateway to Living in tech, The Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital) proposal at the MWC is to show in an immersive way how "technologies are transforming people's daily lives and shaping new urban environments." The MWCapital stand becomes a large digital agora where visitors can interact with innovations that drive social well-being, sustainability and economic growth.
The experience proposes to discover the technologies of Society 5.0, a concept originating in Japan that describes a new paradigm in which hominoid robots, supercomputers and virtual assistants coexist with humans in a natural way to improve their quality of life. "Technology is not only a driver of progress, but also a tool that contributes to collective well-being through innovations that are integrated into our lives to create more friendly, inclusive and sustainable living environments," highlights Francesc Fajula, CEO of MWCapital.
Through these experiences, it is shown how technology can be a tool to solve today's major social challenges, especially in urban environments, such as reducing the carbon footprint, improving public services and assisting an increasingly ageing population. For example, the tool Have a good impact!, developed by MWCapital and CaixaBank, allows you to calculate your personal ecological footprint through a four-question questionnaire, offering recommendations to promote more sustainable habits.
Redefining everyday life
The stand presents five experiences, in collaboration with leading companies and institutions in digital innovation, which show the generation of solutions with social and environmental impact that are transforming sectors such as mobility, training, health and consumption, among others.
Among the most striking, there is the experience designed in collaboration with Invelon, which presents a robot that interacts with visitors; or the one developed with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), which shows the latest developments in Barcelona's digital twin, which allows key data of the city to be viewed in real time, such as traffic conditions, the occupancy of libraries and climate shelters and air quality, among others.
As for decision making when moving around the city, the MWCapital presents the experience Mind your delivery, promoted with the Barcelona City Council and EIT Urban Mobility, which allows the user to stand in front of a map of Barcelona and choose a vehicle for the distribution of goods in the city centre. Their choice will have a real-time impact on traffic, air quality and the efficiency of the operation, which the screen displays with a series of data. The results call upon the individual awareness of the user to understand what their decisions entail.
Finally, another of the experiences that draws attention is that of Connecting cultures, which, through a collaboration with Vueling, shows how virtual reality is already a strategic tool for the training and development of professionals, in this case aviation professionals, and how technological innovations improve the user experience in environments such as a flight.
