Scottish painter Jack Vettriano, known for the work The Butler Singing, died on Saturday in Nice at the age of 73. Self-taught, Vettriano made his way with paintings that were detached from the present and influenced by the Impressionists as well as Edward Hopper and Walter Sickert.
