Ocas Grasses, Figa Flawas and Mushkaa, big winners of the Enderrock Awards
The 27th edition of the Catalan music awards also recognised Fades, Alondra, Miki Núñez, Maria Jaume and Estopa.
GironaA big party for Catalan music at the Auditori Girona, this Thursday, March 6, at the 27th edition of the Enderrock Awards, which, as every year, have awarded the most outstanding artists in the country's music industry. Oques Grasses, with four awards, Figa Flawas, with three, and Mushkaa, with two, have been the big winners of the night, in a gala presented by Alba Riera and Andreu Juanola that has brought together professionals from the sector, authorities, influencers and journalists.
Oques Grasses, who in 2024 has returned to the studio with the album Fruit of delirium, wearing the same good energy as always and increasingly urban rhythms, has won the awards for best artist and best live performance, awarded by popular vote; as well as the awards for best pop-rock album, both by public and critics' vote. The trap duo Flawas fig, who has made it big with the album The calçotada and the hit summer Marina is a brunette, has won three awards: best urban music album, best song, by popular vote, and best artist according to critics. "The fact that people make the effort to vote for us is thanks to the fact that there is warmth and there is a scene, and that makes things happen and get done," said singer Xavier Cartanyà, referring to the good moment of Catalan music, which in 2024 has accumulated millions of views on the platforms. The Vilassar de Mar singer Mushkaa completed the podium, with the public vote for best music video for Sexy sensitive, which she performs with her sister Bad Gyal, and, according to critics, best urban music album for the album of the same name.
Most of the award-winners' speeches were of thanks and in a joking tone, with the exception of some artists who took advantage of the microphone to launch protest messages, such as Maria Jaume, with a cry against mass tourism; Mar Pujol, with a sincere praise of rurality; and, above all, Fades, who made the audience stand up with a clamor in favor of the LGBTI+ community and change their fear to a side.
Scoop of the Tyets to pop rhythm
The night has also been the showcase for the premiere of live performances and songs for the first time, such as the new song It's raining outside by The Tyets, surprisingly melodic, with acoustic guitars, without autotune and very pop airs, which will sound on his new album Coffee for coffee lovers. The apotheosis has also been premiered live radish against tourism And <3 Barcelona, by Svetlana, which will be part of the album Scabies; and the collaboration of the chorister from Salta, Momi Maiga, and the singer Judit Neddermann with the song in Catalan and Wolof Shaliss during the in memoriam. Júlia Colom, Lil Dami, Alérgicas al Polen, Suu, Maria Hein, Flashy Ice Cream, Roger Padrón and Cala Vento with Dan Peralbo were the stars of the other performances of the night.
The rest of the public awards, which were revealed live during the gala, recognized the trio Fades as the best new group; Metallix, as the best urban music band; Alondra, as the best folk album for Oh lai the elm, self-published; the Catalan debut of Miki Núñez, with The game, as best author pop album; and Estopa, for Estopia, in a non-Catalan language.
Critics, for their part, in addition to the awards mentioned, have praised Maria Jaume —album of the year for Nostalgia Airlines—; Tarta Relena, in the folk category; Mar Pujol, in the pop song category; Dan Peralbo, in the rock category —a new category in the list of winners, the result of the rise of guitar music on the Catalan scene—, and Momi Maiga, for the album Akairo, in the Mandingo language. There was also a special jury prize for Guillem Gisbert's solo debut.
Finally, the Enderrock Honorary Award went to Oriol Tramvia, pioneer of countercultural punk songs, who has just announced his retirement; the lifetime achievement award went to the rumba group Sabor de Gràcia, led by Antoni Sicus Carbonell; Joan Tryter, best producer, went to Joan Borràs, keyboard player for Oques Grasses.
