Management of the irresponsible

The Valencians were not only victims of the cold snap. The fury of the water was preceded by the lack of professionalism of the prevention teams and the extractive government of Carlos Mazón, incapable of managing the situation. But a week later, with ground floors, businesses and homes still flooded, almost two hundred dead to be identified, tons of scrap metal to be removed from the streets, problems with the supply of drinking water, risks to public health and an unpublished number of missing, the collective bankruptcy of public servants is impressive. The fury of the water has also been followed by an incredible and unworthy political struggle between the PP and the PSOE. The attempt to use the tragedy by the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, accompanying a knocked out and incapable Mazón, was followed by a "if they want help, they should ask for it" from the president of the government, Pedro Sánchez. The political struggle in Madrid, including the media that feed the pressure cooker of the capital, has conditioned the reaction of the State in the worst natural catastrophe experienced. It is not a question of competence, but of immediate action with all available means when citizens need it. We still have to provide the material means to get out of the mud and overcome the smell of death and destruction. Then there will be photographs and also accountability. Empathy is doing everything you can, and not hugging in front of the cameras.
