BarcelonaThe defeat of Donald Trump in the United States midterm elections takes center stage on this Thursday's cover of ARA. The red cap that the US president has made famous, usually with the message "Make America Great Again", now has the message "KO", symbolizing the president's electoral setback with the loss of control of both houses of Congress after a Democratic tsunami that swept through Republican strongholds. Below the image, three sentences summarize the consequences of the results: the punishment of Trump, his acceptance of the defeat with the threat of vetoing laws, and the growing prominence of a new generation of progressive politicians.

You can read the PDF edition here.

The front page also highlights the analyses by Enric González, Francesc Millan, Michelle Goldberg, Ignasi G. Salles and Pol Morillas on the political consequences of the Republican defeat and the new scenario in the United States.

At the bottom, the ARA highlights two pieces of information. The Urda train accident causes a change in the transport leadership: Carlos Cuerpo temporarily assumes the powers and the president of Adif, Luis Pedro Marco de la Peña, submits his resignation. The other news refers to the ARA International Award granted to Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Ukrainian lawyer and 2022 Nobel Peace Prize winner, for her commitment to the defense of human rights and the documentation of war crimes.
